The Chicago Blackhawks 2013 season was one of the most successful in its 88 year history as a member of the NHL. Despite a late start to the season due to a four month lockout, the Blackhawks managed to begin the year with 11 consecutive wins, suffering no losses in the first two months after the lockout ended. The Avalanche snapped the streak on March 8th, but not before the Blackhawks could break nearly every points record in franchise and league history, including Ray Emery becoming the only goaltender to ever start a season with at least 10 straight wins – he extended the record to 12 consecutive wins.

Emery and counterpart Corey Crawford earned the William M. Jennings Trophy at the end of the year for allowing just 102 goals during the regular season, the least in the NHL. Other awards given to the team in 2013 included the first three Star of the Week naming of the season, one each to Emery and Crawford, and another to center Patrick Kane. Jonathan Toews was chosen to receive the Frank J. Selke Trophy, given to the best defensive player of the regular season.

The Chicago Blackhawks finished the 2013 regular season with 36 wins and 7 losses, enough to garner the first seed in the Western Conference. The record was also the best in the NHL that year, giving the Blackhawks home-ice advantage in the playoffs. The team defeated Minnesota and Detroit at the United Center in front of record-breaking crowds before eliminating the reigning Stanley Cup champion Kings in five games in the Western Conference finals.

Blackhawks Win Stanley Cup

In the Stanley Cup, the Chicago Blackhawks met the 2011 champion Boston Bruins for the first game between the two clubs of that year. Despite their storied pasts, the occasion also marked the first Stanley Cup series the teams had ever played against each other in, and the first in which two Original Six teams had met since 1979. The Blackhawks took the first game at the United Center, which went into a third overtime, but lost the next two in the series to fall behind 1-2. Another overtime win in game four tied the teams at two-apiece before the Blackhawks comfortably won game five back in Chicago. Game six at Boston went down to the wire. Two goals in the last minute-and-a-half of regulation saw the Blackhawks comeback from a nearly game-long one-point deficit to win their second Stanley Cup.

Coming into the 2014 as defending Stanley Cup champions, the Chicago Blackhawks made few changes to the previous year's roster. Forward Dave Bolland, the scorer of the team's Stanley Cup clinching goal months earlier, was the only notable trade made by the organization during the off-season, and no signings have been made since last November. As of the second week of the New Year, the Blackhawks sit atop the central division with 68 points, 29 wins, and eight losses.

Blackhawks Playoff Run 2013-2014 Season

The Blackhawks had shot to be back-to-back champions when they started the playoffs against the St. Louis Blues. The Blues won the first two games of the series, before Chicago roared back to win the next four games. They went on to play against the Minnesota Wild in the Western Conference Semifinals. They took that series four games to two. It was on to Los Angeles, to play the Western Conference finals. The series went to game seven, but sadly the Blackhawks lost in the final game. That left the Kings to represent the West. In 2015, the Blackhaws did make the playoffs. Will the team go on to the finals? Stay tuned.

The Chicago Blackhawks were founded in 1926 and have spent their entire existence in Chicago, Illinois. The Blackhawks have been one of the NHL's oldest franchises, and since their inception nearly 90 years ago, have been one of the most successful.

Throughout their long history, the Blackhawks have won their division 15 times, most recently in 2013. The Blackhawks have won their conference three times- 1992, 2010, and 2013. In addition, Chicago has won the Stanley Cup five times- 1934, 1938, 1961, 2010, and 2013. Also, the Blackhawks have won the Presidents' Trophy twice- 1991, and 2013.

After not doing much since the early 1990's, the Blackhawks began a push in 2009-2010. They hit on some great draft choices like Jonathan Toews and scored big in free agency with Marion Hossa. The result has been two Stanley Cup wins and host of other deep playoff runs. They are currently in the midst of another one. During the 2015 NHL playoffs, they defeated the Nashville Predators in round one.

What helped the Blackhawks return to glory in the 2014-15 season was their stable roster of players. They may have lost their chance for back to back Stanley Cup victories when the Kings took them out, but they vowed to be back. Patrick Kane was their best scoring threat, as Brad Richards and Scott Darling. Even though the team ending the season with the third best record in thei division. From there, they just kept on winning. With the fast healing power of Kane, from an injury he suffered in February, the Blackhawks were back in gear.

It's a new season for the Chicago Blackhawks! The team will once again take the ice, with hopes of winning their fourth Stanley Cup in seven seasons.

The Chicago Blackhawks were the team to beat in the NHL last season. They won the Stanley Cup in 2013, and looked to repeat their winning ways in 2014. The team lost in the NHL conference finals last year. For 2015, the team finished with a record of 48-28-6. The team is in the 2015 playoffs!

The Chicago Blackhawks had a great 2015-2016 regular season. They finished the season with 103 points, tied for the third best record in the Western Conference with the Anaheim Ducks behind the St. Louis Blues and the Dallas Stars. Due to the NHL's somewhat odd playoff scheduling, the Blackhawks found themselves facing the St. Louis Blues in round one, and the Blues won in seven games. The Blackhawks entered the off-season with little work to do. Basically they feel that they just need polish up a few things and the team will be contenders once again. Their most notable off-season move was trading their first round draft choice along with Marko Dano to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Andrew Ladd, Jay Harrison, and Matt Frazier.
