2024 Rangers' Roster Hit by Injury Bug

Where did the 2024 Rangers wind up after a World Series victory in 2024? Third place in the American League West, with just 78 wins. Injuries took their toll on the Rangers. Evan Carter had high hopes, but missed most of the season. Josh Jung suffered with a broken wrist just four games into the season. Josh Sborz had a season filled with time off due to injuries. Corey Seager was in the same situation.

Injuries and the lack of offense at crutial times was what ultimately pushed the Rangers out of playoff contention. Hopes are high that the roster will take to the field in 2025 with a full complement of healthy players. 

2023 Rangers Win World Series

At the start of what turned out to be a World Series winning season, the Astros opened 2023 with a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Over those three games, the Astros scored 29 runs. It was the start of a season that ended with the Rangers winning game number seven of the World Series on November 1, 2023. The Rangers completed their regular season with a 90-72 record, tied with the Astros in the NL West.

Team leaders such as Marcus Semien, Nathaniel Lowe, and Corey Seager hit a combined 79 home runs and 504 hits. Semien drove in 100 runs and hit 40 doubles. Seager hit 42 doubles and drove in 96 runs. Adolis Garcia led the team in home runs with 39, and 107 RBIs. 

Rangers 2022 Review

The Rangers ended the 2022 season in fourth place in the American League West division. Their final record was 68-94, which put them 38 games behind the Houston Astros. In 2023, Nathan Eovaldi will join the Astros pitching rotation along with Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heany, and Martin Perez. Will this solid pitching lineup bring more wins in 2023? Stay tuned.     

Rangers 2021 Season Recap

In 2021, the Texas Rangers placed fifth in the American League West division.  With an overall record of 60-102, the team was out of playoff contention by 32 games at the end of the season. The team played .500 baseball for the first 36 games of the season. Coming out of the All-Star break the team lost 12 straight games before taking down the Diamondbacks on July 27. Chris Woodward will manage the team again in 2022. Adolis Garcia will be back for the 2022 season. Garcia hit 31 home runs in 2021.

Texas Rangers Early Days

The Texas Rangers were originally founded in 1961 as the Washington Nationals. From 1961 to 1971 they remained in Washington before moving to Texas following the 1971 season. Throughout their history, the Rangers have called four buildings home. First, in their inaugural season in 1961, they played at Griffith Stadium. After one season in Griffith Stadium, they played at RFK Stadium from 1962-1971. Following the 1971 season, they moved to Texas where they became the Rangers, and from 1972-1993 the Rangers played at Arlington Stadium. In 1994 they moved into their present-day home building, The Ballpark in Arlington. Honestly, the Rangers have not had that much success throughout their history, and their recent run of success was just about the only success of any kind in team history. They won the American League in 2010 and again in 2011, but failed to turn either of those into a World Series win.
