In 2024, the Mariners will start their season at home against the Boston Red Sox in a four-game series. The Cleveland Guardians will come to T-Mobile Park for three games before the Mariners head to American Family Field for a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The 2023 Mariners finished the season just two games behind the Astros in the American League West Division. Their final record was 88-74, nearly identical to the 2022 outcome. Centerfielder Julio Rodriguez led the team in hits and home runs. He drove in 109 RBIs and had 37 stolen bases. Teoscar Hernandez had a great season, with 161 hits and 26 home runs. Cal Raleigh played in 145 games and hit 30 home runs in 2023. Luis Castillo had a 14-win season and finished the season with a 3.34 ERA. George Kirby also had a strong season on the mound. He won 13 games, with an overall 3.35 ERA.
After a solid 90-72 regular season record, the Mariners were a Wild Card team in the 2022 MLB playoffs. They took on the Toronto Blue Jays and defeated them in two games. In the next round, the Mariners faced the Houston Astros. The Astros swept the Mariners in three games. Key players in 2022 included Adam Frazier, Eugenio Suarez, J.P. Crawford, Ty France, Jesse Winker, and Julio Rodriguez.
Adam Frazier started in 140 games, with 541 at-bats that produced 129 hits and three home runs. Suarez hit 31 home runs, with 87 RBIs and 76 runs. J.P. Crawford was solid at shortstop. He had 126 hits and drove in 42 RBIs. Ty France played first base for the season, with 20 home runs and 83 RBIs.
It's been just one season since the Mariners made the playoffs, and there are bright spots on the horizon for fans. In 2021, the team finished with a 90-72 record. That was good enough for a second-place finish, behind the Houston Astros. The team has decided not to exercise their option on Kyle Seager, leaving him to move into the free-agent market. The Mariners had a very good bullpen in 2021, and they look to repeat that success in 2022. Leading in batting for 2021 was shortstop J.P. Crawford. Crawford had 169 hits, drove in 54 RBIs, and 37 doubles. He played in 160 games this season. Ty France hit 18 home runs and had a total of 166 hits in 152 games. Mitch Haniger knocked 39 balls out of the park in 2021, and that number was closely followed by 35 home runs by Kyle Seager. As for pitching, the team relied upon Chris Flexen at the top of the roster. Flexen had 14 wins for the year, with an ERA of 3.61. He pitched in 172 innings, giving up 185 hits. Marco Gonzales had ten wins this season, striking out 108 batters. Paul Sewald, Anthony Misiewicz, and Drew Steckenrider played in 60+ games in 2021.
