Kauffman Stadium first opened its gates in 1973 for Royals baseball. For 25 years, it was the only stadium built exclusively for one sport, baseball. It took nearly five years to complete construction. For 21 seasons, the field was made of artificial turf. In 1995, the turf was removed for real grass. In 1999, "Crown Club" seating was added to the venue, but the biggest renovation to the stadium came in 2007. At that time, seating capacity was reduced, new press boxes were installed, and a kid's area was built in the outfield seats. Concessions and restrooms were updated, new bars were built, and a new scoreboard was installed. The current seating capacity is 37,903.
There are 25 seating options at Kauffman Stadium. They range from Crown Club to View Outfield. All the Club seating will be found behind home plate, on the field level. The rest of the Field level seating is made up of Front Dugout Box, Dugout Box, Front Field Box, Field Box, Filed Box GA, and Outfield Box. Plaza-level seats are grouped into six areas. They include Inner Dugout, Dugout, Field, Field GA, Outfield, and Fountain Plaza seating.
The Loge level seats include Loge infield, outfield, Craft & Draft seating. The View level is the lowest-priced seating at Kauffman Stadium. Those are named View box, reserved, and outfield.
