Raymond James Stadium is home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since 1998, this amazing venue has been able to hold up to 69,218 football fans on game day. The record for capacity was 74,512, and it took place during the 2017 CFP Championship Game. Not only do the Buccaneers call Raymond James Stadium home, but the South Florida Bulls college football team also plays their home games there.
The venue is open-air, with 195 executive suites. There are three levels of open seats, seven sections of seats in the end zone, and a pirate ship is on full display in the other end zone. By an incredible stroke of luck, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the chance to play in Super Bowl LV, at home. This was one of three times when Raymond James Stadium played host to the Super Bowl. Super Bowl XXXV and XLIII were also held at Raymond James.
The South Florida Bulls were ranked 18th in the country when the team took on the West Virginia Mountaineers on 9/28/2007. That game was notable for the 67,012 fans that packed Raymond James Stadium. The Bulls defeated West Virginia 21-13.
Raymond James Stadium was also the hosting venue for the Outback Bowl in 1999, 2002, and 2006. The 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship game was held at the stadium on January 9, 2017. Clemson defeated Alabama in that game. To date, there have been eleven professional international soccer matches, four women's international matches, pro wrestling, and concerts. The Reliaquest Bowl will take place at Raymond James Stadium on 12/31/24. In 2025, Monster Jam will come to Tampa in February.
