Tropicana Field opened in 1990 with the Davis Cup finals. In the early 2000s, the Tampa Bay Rays moved to the venue. It's one of the smallest venues in Major League Baseball.
On October 9, 2024, Tropicana Field suffered major roof damage from Hurricane Milton. Large sections of the roof came apart in the winds that hit Tampa Bay. The roof was ten years past its service life, according to principal engineers. At this time, Rays' home games have not been rescheduled for another home venue.
In 2025, The Rays will open their season against the Colorado Rockies on March 27.
