Additional Vancouver Canucks Info

The Vancouver Canuks are another one of the many teams in the NHL that had an .500 season a year ago. The team looked to strengthen their roster in 2019 and win games.

The Canucks began their offseason with one of the big headline trades, acquiring right-winger J.T. Miller from the Tampa Bay Lightning for goaltender Marek Mazanec, a 2019 third-round draft choice, and a 2020 first-round draft choice. With their 2019 first-round draft choice, which was tenth overall, Vancouver selected right-winger Vasili Podkolzin from the Russian U-17 league. In free agency, they made six signings. They added center Tyler Graovac for one season, goaltender Zane McIntyre for one season, defenseman Tyler Myers for five seasons, defenseman Oscar Fantenberg for one season, and right-winger Justin Bailey for one season.

Vancouver struggled in their early years, failing to make the playoffs for the first four years. It didn't help that the team found themselves in a very tough league. The team was sold off in 1974, around the same time that the NHL re-alignment. This change paid off for Vancouver, as they had a winning season after the first season in their new division. Still, the team had yet to win the cup.

Current players on the 2014 Canucks team include Eddie Lack, Jannik Hansen, Andrew Alberts, and Jacob Markstrom. In 2013-14, the team finished the season just one game above .500. They were roughly ten points away from making the playoffs. It's safe to say that the team is looking to improve enough to make the playoffs in 2014-15.

The Vancouver Canucks NHL hockey team came into the fold in 1970. That makes them a "young" franchise, when compared to other teams in the National Hockey League. The team was part of the expansion efforts, and joined the league along with the Buffalo Sabres. In the past 34 years, the Canucks made the finals three times, but have yet to win it all. They won the "Presidents' Trophy for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. Check our selection of Vancouver Canucks tickets today. The season starts soon!

The Vancouver Canucks did not have a good 2015-2016 season, by any means. The Canucks finished the season with just 75 points, good for the second worst record in the league, finishing five points ahead of the Edmonton Oilers. Nobody knows exactly what the Canucks are up to, if you look at their roster, they do have some nice young talent, such as 21-year-old center Bo Horvat, but for the most part, it's a bunch of old players over the age of 30, such as the 35-year-old Sedin brothers. The good news is the Canucks ended up with the second selection overall in the 2016 NHL draft, and they used to select defenseman Olli Juolevi from the OHL.

The good news is the Canucks ended up with the second selection overall in the 2016 NHL draft, and they used to select Patrick Laine, and a big strong right winger from Finland. Perhaps Laine can give this organization a boost.

The Vancouver Canucks struggled through a rough 2015-2016 season, finishing with just 69 points, good for the second worst record in the Western Conference. Despite the rough finish there is hope in Vancouver. For example, 22-year-old center Bo Horvat led the team in points with 52, so he provides the franchise with a young player to build with. The concern is that the team leader in assists was 36-year-old Henrik Sedin. However, the Canucks could turn trade Sedin for a draft pick at the deadline if they wanted to. In the draft, the Canucks held the 5th selection overall, and used it on center Elias Pettersson from Sweeden. The Canucks still have quite a bit of way to go before they get back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
