The Bank of American Stadium is home to the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Football Club. Opening in 1996, the venue can hold up to 74,867 sports fans. By 2013, the venue was renovated. That update brought in new scoreboards, new sound, better locker rooms, escalators, and luxury suites.
In college football, the Bank of America Stadium was the host of the ACC Championship Football Game for five years. The first concert to be held at the venue was the Rolling Stones. Other notable concerts included Kenny Chesney, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Elton John. The venue was formerly named Ericsson Stadium until 2004 when Bank of America purchased the naming rights.
Between 2014 and 2017, the stadium underwent multiple renovations. In 2014 new video boards and a surround sound system were installed. In 2015, all 158 suites were upgraded. In 2016, the upper-level concourse was improved, and new security systems were put in place. In 2017, a major renovation occurred in the lower-level.
In 2024, Billy Joel & Sting, Shakira, and Metallica will be performing at the stadium. Stay tuned for more events to come.
